Become a Real Estate Broker
Becoming a real estate broker in Washington State is a straightforward process that can lead to a rewarding career. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you get started:
1. Learn: Begin by completing 90 hours of approved real estate education, which includes a 60-hour course in Real Estate Fundamentals and a 30 hour curse in Real Estate Practices. You can access quality education through our online partner, Rockwell Institute. They boast a high pass rate of over 90% for those who complete their courses. Sign up or get more information here.
2. Test: Once you've completed your education, it's time to take the real estate licensing exam. You'll need to achieve a minimum score of 70% to pass. Schedule your exam here.
3. Fingerprints: After passing your exam, you'll need to submit your fingerprints for a background check. Schedule an appointment with Idemia Washington State's fingerprinting vendor, and be prepared to pay a fee.
4. Apply: The final step is to submit your license application to the Washington State Department of Licensing. We recommend applying online through your SecureAccess Washington (SAW) account for faster processing. If you don't have a SAW account yet, learn how to create one here.
